What We Do

Arktide will sequester Carbon from our atmosphere, freeing the planet!

XPrize Carbon Sequestration

Arktide will be competing the Carbon Removal Xprize competition to develop a plan to remove 1 gigatonne of carbon dioxide from our atmosphere by 2025. Arktide will manufacture a process to force the upwelling of nutrient rich deep ocean water. This will facilitate primary production for ecosystem-based fish farming and enhance natural mechanisms of carbon sequestration. Lastly, this column of cold water being brought up from the deep can be used to produce cheap, renewable energy from the ocean itself using OTEC technology.

Arktide will produce food from seaweed, freeing the people!

The Sargasso Sea

While extracting excess CO2 from our atmosphere, Arktide will actively be growing Sargassum. This seaweed has abundant uses, it is used in sushi and as an additive in many meals. Rich in alginic acid, it is used as a thickener and emulsifier. Sargassum can also be used as fertilizer for corn, squash, and beans. It can be pressed into paper products, reducing the necessary amount of trees to be harvested each year, and even used as an additive in concrete and bricks, reducing construction costs. At a larger scale, Sargassum may even be potentially used to create biofuels for everyday use.

Arktide will create a new floating marina for seafarers and tourists alike to explore our world’s oceans, to see all that nature has to offer…

Early Construction

After the launch of our upcoming small restaurant/single family home platform, Arktide will scale up production and begin working on larger designs including a floating marina. All of our designs will use our special Seasteading Cement which will allow these hulls to be produced cost effectively and survive for centuries in the ocean. We plan to build a large semi-circular structure in the United States with commercial space available inside. This hull will be near coral reefs off the coast of Florida, and can serve as a tourist destination and general hub for commerce at sea. It could have several potential uses from being a marina, to a dive shop, or containing restaurants and hotel rooms! More information will come out about this seastead when we begin building in the months to come so join our discord and stay tuned!

What else will Arktide do? What else can Seasteading bring the world? Only time will tell, but there are an ocean of possibilities out there!
